About Me
Randy Van Duinen
I am a nationally and internationally award-winning photographer, speaker, and trainer that specializes in architectural photography. I also have a fascination with travel photography and digital imaging.
I am the oldest of seven boys growing up in the inter-city in Grand Rapids, Michigan where we lived in a 100-year-old house. This probably is where I developed my interest in photographing old and historic buildings. My interest in photography started when my brother brought home our grandfather's old Argus camera and we built our first darkroom. After driving to California in an old VW Bus and living in Southern California for a few years I move back to Grand Rapids and finished my bachelor’s degree in communication and photography.
A reunion of working with my brother at a commercial photography studio also happened at this time and lasted for two years before my wife and I moved to California. I become the studio manager for an architectural photographer and then moved to San Francisco to start my own architectural photography business. Being in the heart of the digital revolution at the time I started using Adobe Photoshop and pushed my photography further before most other photographers had any idea what was coming to our industry.
I relocated to St. Petersburg in 2000 and worked for KelbyOne, and a company that created brochures for builders, and also started my own photography company, RVD Photography.
